The winner will be named at the AdvaMed 2015 conference in San Diego next month.

MedTech Innovator, a venture competition and accelerator, and AdvaMed have announced the four finalists in its year-long competition. Set to receive $300,000 in awards and prizes, the winner will be named at the AdvaMed 2015 conference in October. The technologies are aimed at diagnosing diseases, preventing errors, and increasing patient safety and health:

  • Briteseed. SafeSnips provides real-time detection and imaging of hidden blood vessels before surgical cuts are made.
  • MedAware. The company’s technology uses big data and algorithms to provide patient-safety centered clinical decision support tools.
  • MobileODT. Uses mobile phones for cancer detection via advanced optical technology components that turn a smartphone into an affordable and easy-to-use point-of-care tool that captures a range of biomedical images.
  • uBiome. The technology uses microbial genomics and data to understand the human microbiome and allows users to explore and manage their microbiomes to improve their health.

The companies will present their technologies, along with the 20 semi-finalists, during a session at the conference. During the final round, the audience will vote for the winner on their phones.
