FDA Announces Cybersecurity Public Workshop

The agency will bring together major stakeholders to discuss challenges in medical device cybersecurity.

Next month FDA will be holding a workshop to discuss past collaboration on the cybersecurity front as well as the relevant challenges in the realm of medical devices moving forward. Open to the public, the workshop, Moving Forward: Collaborative Approaches to Medical Device Cybersecurity, will be held January 20-21, 2016 in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Attend mHealth for Medical Device Manufacturers, February 3-4, 2016 | Washington, DC | REGISTER to attend in-person or virtually“The purpose of this workshop is to highlight past collaborative efforts, increase awareness of existing maturity models (i.e. frameworks leveraged for benchmarking an organization’s processes) which are used to evaluate cybersecurity status, standards, and tools in development, and to engage the multi-stakeholder community in focused discussions on unresolved gaps and challenges that have hampered progress in advancing medical device cybersecurity”, according to an FDA release.

The agency is working with the National Health Information Sharing Analysis Center (NH-ISAC), the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Homeland Security and is also seeking public comments, which can be submitted electronically via the Federal eRulemaking Portal or via paper, which must be mailed to the following address:
